Internship Funding Resources

A number of resources are available to assist students in offsetting the costs associated with internships.

Student Opportunity Awards

Who is eligible:  Students participating in high-impact learning experiences including local, domestic and international internships.
How much? Awards range from approximately $100-$300.
Timeline:  Applications are reviewed monthly throughout the academic year.

With the objective of significantly enhancing the academic, professional, personal and spiritual development of each Stonehill student, we are making available Student Opportunity Awards. These funds, which are made available through the generous support of donors to the College and a grant from the Davis Educational Foundation*, are available to students (primarily but not exclusively) with demonstrated financial need to subsidize the costs associated with their participation in a wide range of high-impact learning activities, including local, domestic and international internships.

Gould Scholars Program

Who is eligible:  Students of all class years participating in internships 32+ hours/week for at least 10 weeks during the summer.  You may apply prior to securing an internship, but proof of internship will be required to receive funds.
How much? $2,000.00 (10 available)
Timeline:  Applications are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis through June 1st

Thanks to the generosity of the Gould Family, the Career Development Center will have the opportunity to provide 10 students with $2000.00 awards.  Students accepted to be Gould Scholars will be required to participate in several professional development programs through the Career Development Center and will also be expected to attend a Scholars reception in the early fall.

Katherine Mance Retail Award

Who is eligible:  Students participating in internships within the retail industry
How Much? 3 $1500.00 awards each semester
Timeline: Applications accepted at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters, awards are granted shortly after

The Katherine E. Mance Scholarship offers a $1,500.00 awards to juniors and seniors participating  internships for academic credit in the retail industry. This scholarship is awarded each semester. Katherine Mance, a Stonehill alumna, is currently the Executive Director of the National Retail Federation and is passionate about supporting students interested in her field. 

The James E. Hayden '76 Business Internship Fund

Who is eligible:  Business majors participating in New York City, Washington DC, and Los Angeles internship programs
How Much?  2 $500 Awards available each semester
 Awarded during the fall and spring semesters
Application:  Apply through Handshake

Established in 2014 by Elizabeth G. Hayden ’76, in memory of her husband James E. Hayden ’76, who passed away on September 11, 2001.

The purpose of this fund is to provide financial assistance to students for expenses associated with participating in unpaid internships.  Recipients can be of any class year and preference is given to business majors with a GPA over 3.0, especially those participating in internships in NYC, Los Angeles and Washington, DC.
