Stonehill Parents & Business Education Alliance

An Opportunity for Parents to Participate in the Stonehill College Community

Join Us In Building The Best In Business Education

As parents of a Stonehill student, we invite you to become involved in the College and strengthen connections with the Stonehill community.  There are many volunteer opportunities for you to help enhance our outstanding business program, the College, the Stonehill community, and help your child.

Join other parents, faculty and staff at social functions, provide internship and employment opportunities and mentor students with career planning, and/or volunteer to speak to a class, student business club or as part of our Executive Speaker Series.

As a member of the newly formed Stonehill Parents & Business Education Alliance, you will become more connected to Stonehill and be part of the excitement and growth of the College.

I hope you'll join the alliance today!

Ways to Get Involved

As parents of a Stonehill College student, we want to provide you with an important opportunity to connect to the College and enhance our outstanding business education both inside and outside the classroom. Your involvement can be very rewarding for you, your family and the Stonehill community. While this more formal partnership opportunity is in its infancy, you will find that there are numerous ways that you can participate and add considerable value right now. Your role in this partnership might include:

Offering Internships

Most students enter college with an idea of a career path but more often than not, direction and the degree of motivation are direct outcomes of various internship experiences undertaken throughout college. By graduation, students generally have confidence that the degrees they are receiving are the right ones for them. Students with work experience that compliments their in-class achievements are in greater demand by employers post graduation as they may require less training and are assumed to be able to handle more responsibility. Work with our Career Development Counselors and help us expand the opportunities available in Career Connections database or ask your company to participate at any number of our Career Fairs in the fall and spring semesters.

Help With Post-Graduation Employment

With many experienced workers looking for jobs and companies still watching their budgets, it can still be quite challenging to land that first post-graduate position. It is essential for job candidates to stand out from the competition and market themselves as a valuable and unique brand. Most often, it’s all about “who they know and who knows them.” As a Stonehill parent you can be a great advocate for the quality of academic experience offered to your son or daughter and the value that can bring a potential employer. While nearly half of our graduates have jobs or related opportunities by graduation, we will not be satisfied until that number is substantially higher.

Be A Guest Speaker

Your business experience matters and it can add significant contributions to our AACSB accredited academic platform either as additions to our in-class coursework or maybe as a guest speaker for our student business organizations such as the Accounting Association, Financial Management Association or Marketing and Management Association, just to name a few.

Join Us For Our Executive Speaker Series

An Executive Speaker Series event is offered once a semester for faculty, students, and alumni sponsored by Stonehill’s Business Department. Executives from around the country are invited to speak on a topic of their choice and respond to questions from the audience. These events are an excellent opportunity for students to get deeper insights on issues of the day and challenges they may face in the years ahead.

Mentor In Your Career Field

Join our database of alumni (through our Career Development Center) who are willing to share time with current students to discuss academic choices, career paths, and business experiences.  Simple things that seem easy or straightforward to you now may appear to be a complete mystery to a young person. You can provide students with an experienced friend who is there to help in any number of situations.

Build Your Company’s Brand

Promoting your organization and staying in front of students can be a winning strategy for your firm.  Opportunities include sponsoring business club activities, seminars and other special events as well as company site-visit invitations.
