The President’s Cup is awarded to a senior who embodies Stonehill’s values; is committed to intellectual excellence; and dedicated to serving others.

This year’s recipient has been a student leader and mentor to her peers since her earliest days on campus. Guided by her goal to build a welcoming and inclusive community environment for all, she served as an admission ambassador, an orientation leader, and as a head resident assistant.

In these roles she created a sense of belonging and safety among new and returning students and residents—being available to them for counseling, guidance, and connection.

This vision of building a culture of belonging led her to become a first-year experience instructor, dedicated to helping new students acclimate and succeed at Stonehill.

She continued to strengthen her natural teaching abilities by co-developing and facilitating an IDEAS course titled, “Rhythms of BIPOC America” centering the contributions of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color musicians—showcasing the intersection of her inherent leadership skills, knowledge of music, and passion for dance.

As a member and then president of the Ruckus e-Board, she sought to share that passion and joy for dance with the entire campus community.

Throughout her college experience she has been guided by a strong dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion—as exemplified by her work with the Office of Intercultural Affairs and as president of Mundos Apartes, Tierras Unidas, an all-inclusive club dedicated to educating and celebrating Latinx and Hispanic cultures.

Recently, she sat down with the Director of the Office of Intercultural Affairs to brainstorm and envision new and creative ways to serve our historically marginalized students and build their sense of belonging on campus long after she graduates.

This dedication to serving her community and beyond will undoubtedly benefit others as she seeks to one day practice immigration law.

I am confident that this year’s award recipient will think, act, and lead courageously towards creating a more just, compassionate, and welcoming world for many years to come.

Thank you for all the impassioned nominations from peers, staff and faculty that I received.

It is with your kind and thoughtful submissions, that I have the deep honor of presenting this year’s President’s Cup to Jasmine Santos.

Congratulations, Jasmine!
