First-generation students face a unique set of challenges when coming to our institution. Given the population of first-gens on Stonehill’s campus has ranged between 20% and 27% of any given class, it is absolutely vital that every member of the campus community work to better engage and support these amazing students.

Workshop: Supporting First-Generation College Students
During this interactive session, participants will be encouraged to reflect on their own personal narratives while also gaining a greater understanding of the issues that face First-Generation College Students both here at Stonehill and beyond. Participants will learn about the struggles that first-gens face while navigating the higher-education system. The session will close with a discussion on how to create an inclusive yet diverse campus.
We need at least 5 participants to run a workshop. We encourage offices and departments to organize an opportunity for your team. If you are an individual interested in a workshop, you may express your interest and we will be in touch once we have a critical mass of attendees (we can work with schedules to find a time convenient for the group). To request a workshop or express your interest please email Diversity@stonehill.edu.
