When it comes to choosing a program, the best part about the Stonehill’s Sports Management program is that it can take you where you want to go — whether that means majoring in sports management, creating an interdisciplinary minor with it, or continuing your studies with a master's degree.

Not only will the sports management major get you ready for a career in a variety of areas related to sports, it will teach skills that you can take with you if you decide to pursue another field. Over the course of your four years, you’ll develop the ability to analyze, think critically, share ideas and listen to new ones. With a degree from Stonehill, you’ll be able to think, act and lead with courage to create a more just and compassionate world.

With the ability to customize your degree with an interdisciplinary minor or pair your degree with a master’s in integrated marketing communications or data analytics...where will your path take you?

The Sports Management Major at Stonehill

The Sports Management major program at Stonehill is part of the Meehan School of Business. Graduates earn a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (B.S.B.A.). The program is designed to provide the knowledge and experience students need to launch their career as well as the critical thinking skills they will need as they advance to more senior positions.

Business majors including sports management majors are encouraged to participate in multiple internships. Students work a minimum of 12 hours per week for 14 weeks and earn 3 credits. Students submit a professional journal or portfolio and a research paper as part of their internship.

Interdisciplinary Studies Major

The Interdisciplinary Studies program is an option for students who seek to accomplish intellectual goals beyond an existing major. It requires an expression of creativity and self-motivation, and a foundation of intellectual commitment.

Interdisciplinary studies majors at Stonehill College prepare a program proposal with substantial intellectual content. Formulated with faculty advisors — one of whom will be designated as principal advisor — it must reflect the objectives of a liberal arts education.

Interdisciplinary Studies Minor

The interdisciplinary minor gives students the opportunity to explore, in some depth, a well-defined question or topic beyond the major. It provides students with maximum flexibility to propose a course of study, composed of classes and other academic experiences, as a path to conduct an interdisciplinary inquiry that may or may not be related to the major or disciplinary minor.

Students submit a proposal for an interdisciplinary minor that includes no less than four and no more than five academic units. Given the depth of study required, a student will only complete one interdisciplinary minor during their academic career at Stonehill.

Sports Management Major Honors

Sports Management majors who achieve excellence are honored at Stonehill.

Beta Gamma Sigma is the international honor society recognizing business excellence. Stonehill's chapter has earned highest honors status, which is the highest distinction possible for BGS chapters.

Stonehill’s campus-wide honor society, Lambda Epsilon Sigma, recognizes students from all areas of study. Students who have demonstrated a well-rounded thirst for knowledge are invited to apply.

Pair Your Sports Management Degree with a Master’s Degree

Pair your sports management degree with a master’s in integrated marketing communications or data analytics. Our master’s programs provide you with the skills the market demands and partner well with a Sports Management major.

Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) Master’s Degree

Stonehill’s Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) Master’s Degree program combines the expertise of the College's marketing, communications and graphic design faculty to prepare students for marketing in the digital information age.

Along with direct skills in marketing and communications, the curriculum is intended to develop:

  • strategic thinking and decision making,
  • a deeper and nuanced understanding of organizational structure,
  • and pertinent leadership skills to manage both projects and individuals.

As a Stonehill sports management major, you’ll be able to complete the integrated marketing communications master’s degree in one year by taking graduate courses alongside your undergraduate curriculum, saving you time and money.

By taking two 500-level courses during my senior year at Stonehill, I was able to get a feel for the IMC program without any extra tuition or commitment. These courses rounded out my undergraduate experience and solidified my decision to pursue a master’s degree and a full-time career simultaneously.

Data Analytics Master of Professional Studies Degree

The Data Analytics Master of Professional Studies Degree Program at Stonehill provides students with the in-demand skills and knowledge necessary to analyze data and extract actionable information from complex data sets.

Students not only earn a master’s degree in 1 year, but also earn an academic specialization and professional certification from the SAS Institute. In addition, its executive format fits seamlessly into students' busy professional life while fostering valuable networking and learning opportunities with classmates who are also charting their path to success in the field.

M.B.A. Partnership
