The HCM Program not only prepares students for healthcare management, planning and leadership positions, it also provides a broader platform from which to explore issues at the heart of the healthcare system and how the system is managed, which opens up opportunities in private and nonprofit organizations as well as graduate school programs.

Our healthcare management majors find work in hospitals, long-term care and assisted living facilities, home care and hospice organizations, managed care organizations, public health agencies, planning and consulting firms, and international service organizations. Some students seek further professional education in a clinical field, business, policy or public health.

Directed Study

Our flexible curriculum allows students to collaborate with trusted faculty members to develop a Directed Study program for academic credit. Directed Study is a chance to complete an in-depth investigation that is closely guided by a faculty member who shares similar interests.

Stonehill Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE)

The SURE provides students with an opportunity to perform significant, publishable research under the guidance of an experienced faculty researcher. The research experience gives students a competitive advantage on graduate and professional school applications and opens more post-college employment opportunities.

Megan Anderson ’22 and Jacquelin Sauer ’23 worked with Danielle Waldron, assistant professor in healthcare management, on two projects related to health and disability: Health Disparities Across Race in Adults With Disabilities and A National Debrief for Developmental Disabilities Services.

At the end of the four years it takes to major in healthcare management at Stonehill, students will have not only completed courses in their chosen interest, but they will have also had the opportunity to participate in research, internship and/or externship programs.
