The MacPháidín Library uses other call numbers for specific collections that are not a part of the main collection. There are two collections that are shelved by other, locally created, call numbers: the picture books in the Curriculum Collection and the music cassettes and CDs.

Picture Books in the Curriculum Collection

An example of the type of other call number used in this collection is:

Pic
G951i

The pic designates this particular item as part of the picture books in the Curriculum Collection. The G in the second line is the first letter of the author's last name. All picture books are grouped by author.

Music Cassettes and CDs

An example of the other type of call number used in the collection is:

MCA
MCAC
1629

The first three digits are derived from the publisher of the sound recording - in this particular case MCA represents MCA records. In this collection, all items from particular publishers are shelved together.

MacPhaidin Library provides informational resources that support the College's academic programs. Its goal is to provide faculty and students with the material and services needed for effective teaching, learning and research.
