Informal Conferences

  1. An informal conference is an informal meeting of a student alleged to have violated the Community Standards with a staff member and complainant for the purpose of achieving resolution with all parties agreeing to the If an agreement is reached, the case will end with no opportunity for appeal.  If no agreement is reached, the case will be dismissed or referred for a formal conduct hearing.
  2. Informal conferences will be conducted as soon as possible.
  3. The student alleged to have violated the Community Standards will be informed in writing of the charges prior to or at the informal conference.
  4. The respondent and complainant have the right to be accompanied by an advisor of choice for the purpose of providing support and An advisor of choice may not directly address the hearing officers or otherwise actively participate in the conference. The name of the advisor of choice must be submitted in writing to the AVPSA/Dean of Students, or designee, at least 24 hours prior to the informal conference.
  5. Upon request the staff member will provide a written summary of the informal conference including a brief statement of the facts and outcome of the conference.
  6. The outcome of the informal conference will be made part of the student's conduct file and may be considered in determining future sanctions.
