Chairman, President & Chief Executive Officer
May became the chairman and chief executive officer of Northeast Utilities as a result of a merger with NSTAR in 2012. He was previously the chief executive officer of NSTAR and its predecessor company since 1994.
May received a B.S. in business administration/accounting from Stonehill in 1969 and an M.S. in finance from Bentley College in 1980. He is also a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
May is active on various civic boards including Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce and the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation. He is also a director of the Bank of America Corporation and the Liberty Mutual Holding Company, Inc.
He is a recipient of Stonehill’s 1999 Outstanding Alumnus of the Year Award and is a long-standing member of the College’s President’s Council. A Stonehill trustee since spring 1993, elected chair on spring 2007. He resides with his wife, Donna (Jermyn) May '70, in Westwood, MA.
