How long does it take to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in healthcare management? The short answer is four years for a full-time student.

But a better first question might be: What do you like to do? Because if maximizing the efficiency, affordability and fairness of our healthcare system sounds interesting to you, then a major in healthcare management may be the perfect way to spend the next four years.

About the Study of Healthcare Management

Healthcare management focuses on the leadership, managerial and methodological skills that drive our healthcare system. Stonehill’s Healthcare Management (HCM) Program combines courses focused on core skills with in-depth internships and a solid liberal arts foundation.

Skills Learned in Healthcare Management

The HCM Program not only prepares students for healthcare management, planning and leadership positions, it also provides a broader platform from which to explore issues at the heart of the healthcare system and how it’s managed, which opens up opportunities in private and nonprofit organizations as well as in graduate school programs.

As a healthcare management major, you will:

  • Build relationships with faculty mentors. Learn from professors who are actively engaged in healthcare management and provide top-notch advising
  • Choose from a wide range of course offerings. Explore different facets of healthcare management, including gerontology, group practice management, health IT, finance, personnel, marketing, public relations and sales
  • Sharpen your skills. Hone your writing, public speaking and critical thinking skills throughout the program
  • Tailor your experience. Follow your interests and take advantage of opportunities for student-facilitated research, challenging internships and community-based learning experiences
  • Become qualified. Graduate knowing that you are qualified to enter a variety of postgraduate opportunities
