Stonehill College’s Leo J. Meehan School of Business will officially launch its new Business Honors Program at the start of the 2026–2027 academic year. Led by Associate Professor of Management Suzanne Edinger, the program will enroll a cohort of 25 students from the Class of 2030.

“I am excited that academically strong and engaged students will participate in an honors program with clear ties to their expected career path,” Edinger said. “The program takes a cohort-based approach to honors courses where students will learn together in four Meehan classes across their years at Stonehill.”

Designed to prepare future business leaders to flexibly navigate a rapidly changing economy, the program is anchored by three principles: global perspective, ethical leadership and professional experience. These concepts will guide the meaningful opportunities that students pursue at the Meehan School.

“We expect our business honors students to lead the way and serve as role models for the rest of our student body,” Edinger said. “Upper-class honors students will be heavily involved in designing and implementing programs for their junior peers. We think the knowledge and skills gained at Stonehill will translate well as participants move from college into the global business community.”

The Business Honors Program was designed to foster a close-knit learning community with its cohort-based structure and small class sizes.

A key component of the program’s global focus is an international travel experience.

“During their sophomore year, business honors students will spend the spring semester together in Limerick, Ireland,” Edinger explained. “They will study at the Kemmy Business School, an AACSB-accredited school of the University of Limerick. Students will gain hands-on business experience in Europe while being immersed in Irish society and culture. We hope this transformative program will lead to lasting friendships and connections.”

The groundwork for the Business Honors Program was laid by the College’s long-running Moreau Honors Program, which has helped academically motivated students, including business majors, maximize the benefits of their Stonehill experience for many years. The decision to create another honors program was a result of student interest in concentrated, business-focused offerings.

Additionally, the Business Honors Program was developed with the intention of encouraging greater collaboration between students and campus partners.

“Through carefully curated programming, we hope our honors students will develop meaningful and lasting relationships with both alumni and visiting employer representatives,” Edinger said.

As the College prepares to welcome its first cohort of business honors students in August 2026, John Duggan, dean of the Meehan School, is grateful to all who helped get the new program up and running.

“The Business Honors Program represents an innovative next step in the Meehan School’s continuing evolution as a premier destination for students,” he said. “Thank you to Professor Edinger and the many faculty, staff and students who have helped bring this exciting initiative to life.”
