Stonehill College has earned inclusion in The Princeton Review Guide to Green Colleges: 2026 Edition. The publication profiles 388 colleges that foster a culture of environmental responsibility and demonstrate a commitment to sustainability.

Colleges were chosen based on a survey of administrators and students at over 400 colleges about their institutions’ sustainability-related policies, practices and programs. The school selections were based on more than 25 data points from the surveys.

“Among the hundreds of schools we surveyed for this project, Stonehill College, which offers excellent academics, is also a stand-out for its record of environmentally responsible practices,” said Rob Franek, The Princeton Review’s editor-in-chief.

Franek also noted the strong interest among recent college applicants in attending green colleges. Of the more than 7,000 students polled for The Princeton Review’s 2025 College Hopes & Worries Survey, 59% said having information about a college’s commitment to the environment would affect their decision to apply to or attend the school.

The Guide features Green Ratings for each school featured, which The Princeton Review tallied on a scale of 60 to 99. Schools that received a Green Rating of 80 or higher were included in this edition. Stonehill received a Green Rating of 88.

In recent years, Stonehill has implemented many sustainability measures in fulfillment of its commitment to protecting and preserving the natural world. These efforts include:

  • Offering reusable green containers for food on-the-go as part of the Reuzzi program
  • Partnering with Bon Appétit Management Co. to compost all pre-consumer vegetables and fruit scraps
  • Utilizing solar panels to generate nearly half of the power used on campus

Inclusion in the Guide to Green Colleges marks the latest recognition Stonehill has earned this fall. In September, the College was also featured in The Best 391 Colleges: 2026 Edition, placing the institution in the top 15% of four-year colleges and universities in the United States.
