Sociology major Angelina “Lina” D’Agostino ’25 of Bridgewater, Massachusetts has been named to the 2024-2025 Newman Civic Fellow cohort, joining more than 100 other students from across the country. Sponsored by Campus Compact, the program provides impactful opportunities for student problem solvers to develop strategies for social change.

“Lina’s zeal for advocacy, human rights, and equity is evident in her efforts to create change on campus and in her community. As a bridge-builder, Lina excitedly offers her presence in every opportunity in order to meet new people and learn from them,” wrote President John Denning, C.S.C., in a statement nominating D’Agostino as a Newman Civic Fellow.

An engaged student leader, D’Agostino serves as a Moreau Student Minister and as an intern for the L.I.G.H.T. Community Engagement Program. During the summer of 2023, the rising senior collaborated with Campus Ministry to create a map that helps students and other community members discover places on campus where they can pray and reflect. Outside of her involvement with religious life at Stonehill, D’Agostino is also a student-athlete who competes for the College’s equestrian team.

After she graduates from Stonehill in May 2025, D’Agostino intends to engage in service for a year. She plans to volunteer with a community partner who employs formerly incarcerated people on farms.

In a personal statement submitted as part of her application for the fellowship, D’Agostino touched upon her hopes for life after Stonehill.

“In the future, I’m not looking to inherit a large position of power but rather make a difference in small ways where my heart feels at home,” she said. “I believe small actions can make as much of an impact as larger ones. I am very thankful for the opportunities I’ve been given that have helped me learn what is within my power to change and improve.”
