Charity Knit-In

November 17, 2015

On Friday, November 13, students participated in a Charity Knit-In organized to benefit the UMass Memorial
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) by making and donating holiday hats for premature infants. It is supported by the Davis Grant Campus Compact for Environmental Stewardship through philosophy Professor Megan Mitchell’s course on feminism and new domesticity.

In this course, students learn about and critically analyze the implications of the recent rise in popularity of domestic tasks (like knitting, canning, home-brewing, and bread making) through a combination of experiential learning and engagement with feminist theory.
