Monday Morning Update

March 4, 2019

UNQUENCHABLE CURIOSITY: “We encourage students to not only take theater classes but to also broaden their horizons and take art, photography, film and history classes. You need to develop an unquenchable curiosity for the world and what drives people,” says Matt Greene, theater program director in the Visual & Performing Arts Department whose new offerings better connect students with their passions. SWEET AS HONEY!: Last week, nearly 250 readers sought the 10 jars of honey from The Farm at Stonehill offered as a giveaway. Given that interest, we note that our 1.5 acre Farm yields between 10,000 and 15,000 lbs. of fresh, organic produce annually, which includes 100 varieties of vegetables, fruits and flowers. To find out more about The Farm, visit here

JOB SEEKERS: Nearly 300 students attended the Career Development Center’s recent Job and Internship Expo. The students were able to meet representatives from 66 companies seeking interns and future employees. Find out more here

DISCOVERING GRACE: Each spring, Rev. Stephen Wilbricht, C.S.C. takes his classes to The Farm at Stonehill to prune the vines. In the fall, they harvest the grapes for altar wine used in celebrating the Eucharist. In these visits, students discover grace in the ordinary things of life, what Fr. Wilbricht calls sacramentality. Learn more here

ALUMNAE GATHERING: At the upcoming 2019 Alumnae Summit, women graduates of the College will gather for insights and inspiration for self-empowerment, establishing work-life balance, and defining one’s own success. Trustee and Stonehill parent, Sheri McCoy, CEO of Avon Products, is the keynote speaker. Get the details and sign up to attend here.
