Four-time contestant senior Randy Jose captured this year's Mr. Stonehill crown on Saturday, December 3 in front of a capacity crowd at the Sally Blair Ames Sports Complex. The most renowned dancer on campus, Jose captivated the crowd with his moves during his "This Is It" talent performance.
For three years, Jose dominated the Best Talent category of the competition with his Michael Jackson and Justin Timberlake inspired dance moves. This year, he also took home the People's Choice Award.
Runner-up and Mr. Congeniality winner senior James Hulme showed off his school pride and rapping skills with his rendition of Jay-Z's "Empire State of Mind." With a little help from Girls from the Hill singer junior Bethany Conway, Hulme transformed the song into "Stonehill State of Mind."
Senior Jeff Leonard, who has also competed in the Mr. Stonehill Pageant for four years, gave his own tribute to his college with "The Stonehill Song," which won for Best Talent.
The Best Swimwear Award went to senior Mike Lydon, who went back to Biblical times as Adam, the first man on earth. Best Formal Wear went to senior Nate Illsley, who sported a black tux and red vest.
Other highlights of the night included senior Tim Rose's touching tribute poem to his mother, senior Nat Illsley's guitar mash-up, sophomore Brendan Doyle as The Little Mermaid singing "Part of Your World," and senior Cory Domina's tribute to Professor of Communication Xuejian Yu, "Ode to Yu," which included a surprise appearance by Professor Yu on stage.
The pageant, now in its 13th year, has become one of the most well attended events on campus.
