Monday Morning Update

February 12, 2018

ALUMNI DAY: Five hundred alumni and their families visited campus recently for an open science lab hosted by faculty for children of alums, a winter carnival with children’s activities including a Barn Babies petting zoo, a chili cook-off, craft beer tasting, basketball games, and more. Check out our photo highlights here.

MOREAU HONORS: Also on Alumni Day, Philosophy Professor Richard Capobianco was honored for his leadership of the Moreau Honors Program on the occasion of its 25th anniversary. To view photos, visit here.

BIG RESEARCH: For the last four decades, scientists thought woodpeckers didn't incur brain damage, despite all their harsh pecking for food. George Farah '15 helped prove everyone wrong. For more on this biochemistry major and Stonehill’s role in groundbreaking research, visit here.

IRRESISTIBLE CALL: Since 2015, the College’s SEA Semester has been giving our students the opportunity to study for six weeks at the world-renowned Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution followed by a month aboard a tall ship research vessel off the coasts of Fiji, New Zealand, the Caribbean or the Mediterranean. To find out what students are saying about the program, visit here.

FABULOUS START: Now in its fifth week, our new master's degree in integrated marketing communications is in full swing with 25 part-time students being taught by three Stonehill professors. To find out what students are saying about the program, visit here.

FARM SUMMIT: More than 125 representatives from over 25 colleges and K-12 schools with farms gathered at Stonehill on Saturday for a first-of-its-kind summit dedicated to tackling the challenges facing campus farms in New England today. For a report, visit here.
