Monday Morning Update

December 4, 2017

#GIVINGTUESDAY: Our recent #GivingTuesday appeal was a massive success—718 gifts totaling $156,685! What an amazing expression of loyalty and donor engagement across traditional, online and mobile platforms. Big thanks to all the alumni, students, faculty, trustees, staff, parents, friends and Holy Cross priests. Your generosity and momentum reflect so well on the culture of philanthropy at Stonehill.

MODERN PIRACY: Long before Tom Hanks’ Captain Philips put modern pirates on everyone’s radar, Professor Anamika Twyman-Ghoshal was building a maritime piracy database that established her as a world-renowned expert in the field. Learn more here.

SMART COMPANY: Blue Snap CEO Ralph Dangelmaier ’88 met with 140 students and faculty on Thursday to share his expertise on trends, such as block chain technology and cyber currency, that are redefining how commerce operates. Given that Dangelmaier has been on the cutting edge of e-commerce over three decades, it is no surprise The Silicon Review named BlueSnap to its list of the 50 smartest companies for 2017.

TRIBUTE: Custodian Arthur Karlson retired in 2009 after 35 years of dedicated service to the College. With his recent passing, colleagues noted the care he took in his work, how he was a special person. Remembering Arthur.

TEAM LEADER: The leadership skills Ryan Peck ’18 developed at Stonehill helped propel his team to a major victory at the international business honor society Beta Gamma Sigma Leadership Summit in Orlando recently. Learn more here.

CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS: We know you've been peeking over the fence to try and get a good look at the construction of the Academic and Welcome Center! See how it's coming along! Check out photos here.
