Libraries of the Future: WGBH recently visited a number of local college libraries, including MacPháidín Library here at Stonehill. They covered changes in library facilities and the current trend of building flexible classrooms and workspaces. Honoring Ellis Island: In honor of Ellis Island’s 125th birthday, Glamour Magazine highlighted the story of three American families, including that of Amanda Santucci ’08, whose names are memorialized on the monument there. To read the story of Amanda’s grandparents and great uncle, visit here.

Intercultural Celebration: The Office of Intercultural Affairs will be celebrating 25 years of building a more diverse and inclusive Stonehill community on Alumni Day, Saturday, February 4th. All alumni, students, faculty and staff are invited to attend the historic event, which will be held in the Martin Institute. Former Director Jean Hamler, as well as current Intercultural Affairs staff will also be in attendance. For more, visit here.

College Republicans: At the recent inauguration of President Trump, USA Today took the time to interview College Republican leadership, including Ben Rajadurai ’17. Guest Speaker: We recently noted that David Simas ’92, a top Obama advisor, is now the CEO of the nonprofit Obama Foundation. Building on his already strong Stonehill connections, Simas has agreed to be the guest speaker at Skyhawk Welcome Day for admitted students on February 18.

Elected: The new leaders of the Alumni Council, which represents 26,000 alumni, are Steven Viveiros '98, president, Brandon Hall '02, vice president, and Jacquelyn Tracy ’88, treasurer. Elected for a three year term by the Council, they succeed Christine Ferretti ’92, president, Jaye (Flanagan) Benson ’94, vice president, and Amy Chapin ’00, treasurer. We wish the new team every success and extend our gratitude to the outgoing leaders for their outstanding service. For more on the 42-member volunteer Council, visit here.

Picture of the Week: At a recent wedding on campus, some members of the bridal party had fun with their photographer, using the lounge in Donahue Hall to channel the style and look from Downton Abbey, the popular PBS series about British aristocracy in the last century. To see it, visit here.

Florida Fun: In March, Stonehill is taking Florida by storm! First, we’ll attend a Red Sox preseason game on 3/10. Tickets are first-come, first-served and are $75 and include access to a pre-game BBQ. And the next day, we’ll participate in the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade in Naples.
