The MacPhaidin Library staff is fortunate to have Maggie Timmoney working with us this semester. Maggie is serving as part of the library’s Web and Social Media team. In that role, she writes feature stories for our newsletter, including the story about controversies surrounding library classification that appears in the latest edition. Also, she is helping shape our social media strategy by guiding us on how to reach our students across various social media platforms.

What do you do in your MacPhaidin Library Internship?
During my internship with the MacPhaidin Library, my main tasks are to create social media content and write the monthly newsletter. I help create social media content by generating ideas for the Library’s social media platforms such as Instagram. One of my ideas was inspired by the New York Public Library's “recreating your favorite book cover.” I also conduct research on various topics and use that research to write articles for the monthly newsletter.

How do you think your library internship will benefit you post-graduation (any particular skills, technologies, etc.)?
I believe with my internship at the library I will gain stronger writing skills and editing skills, learn how to actively engage a target audience, and work with a team to promote a service.

What is your dream job post-graduation?
After I graduate from Stonehill, I would like to work for a company with a strong message that helps society in some capacity. I believe there are many companies with great missions that need a marketer to help spread their ideas and services. I want to be a part of a company that values societal needs and I know I have the skills to market their mission.
