MacPhaidin Library's marketing and social media team is hiring interns for the spring semester. If you are eyeing a career in journalism, publishing, marketing, social media or graphic design, this is a perfect opportunity to gain practical experience while building a professional portfolio. Check out Handshake for the job posting, which runs through the end of the week.

The internship comes with a high degree of flexibility. Interns will be expected to attend weekly one-hour planning meetings with team members. Projects can be completed independently, on your schedule, with team members available in-person, via email, or over Zoom to provide guidance and answer questions.

Depending on an applicant's skills and interests, they will work on one of three areas: social media marketing – creating content for and drawing new followers to our social media streams (Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook); graphic design - producing marketing materials (brochures, infographics, posters, etc.) to market the library’s services, resources, and events; writing – crafting news and feature stories for the library’s monthly newsletter.

We are looking for applicants who are skilled writers, and/or have experience working with social media in either prior internships or volunteer roles.

Applicants should be rising juniors or seniors, and academic credit is required for this internship. Business majors must commit 12 hours/week and all other majors are required to complete 8 hours to receive credit. While the internship is not paid, the opportunity to earn credits while building your resume makes it a valuable opportunity.

We anticipate reviewing applications the week of Jan. 22 and conducting interviews the week of Jan. 29.

If you’d like to see the kind of work you’d do as part of our team, check out the Library’s latest newsletter, like our Facebook page (macphaidinlibrarySC), and follow us on Twitter (@macphaidin_lib) and Instagram (MacPhaidin Library).
