MacPhaidin Library is currently hiring fall semester interns to help with our marketing and social media initiatives. These positions could be a great fit for those considering a career in social media marketing, media/journalism, or graphic design.

Depending on an intern’s skills and interests, they will be assigned to one of three areas: helping coordinate and draw new followers to our social media streams (Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook); producing marketing materials (brochures, infographics, posters, etc.) to market the library’s services, resources, and events; or writing news and feature stories for the library’s newsletter.

What do we want to see in applicants for the position? We’d like to hire students who are skilled writers and/or have experience working with social media in either prior internships or volunteer experiences. Additionally, we’d like our interns to be able to work as both part of our Web and Social Team and independently. The team meets weekly (meeting times are typically adjusted to accommodate interns’ schedules). Finally, we’re looking for students who are excited about learning new skills and employing new technology.

Students should be rising juniors or seniors and academic credit is required for this internship. Business majors must commit 12 hours/week and all other majors are required to complete 8 hours to receive credit.

Check out our posting on Handshake! If you’re interested but this semester doesn’t work for you, don’t worry. We anticipate hiring one or two interns each semester.

If you’d like to see the kind of work you’d do as part of our team, check out the Library’s latest newsletter, like our Facebook page (macphaidinlibrarySC), and follow us on Twitter (@macphaidin_lib) and Instagram (MacPhaidin Library).
