STUDENT PHILANTHROPY COUNCIL
Cultivating Gratitude, Philanthropy, and Community

The Student Philanthropy Council (SPC) is a group of student ambassadors who help their peers understand the impact of donor support at Stonehill and volunteer to help steward some of Stonehill’s current donors. Through outreach and engagement, SPC members foster a culture of gratitude and philanthropy, helping students recognize how the generosity of alumni, parents, friends, and benefactors enriches their Stonehill experience and strengthens our community. By their stories and connecting with donors like you, they gain meaningful networking experience, develop professional job skills, and enhance their communication and leadership skills.

Meet some of the students behind SPC and discover how your generosity has created opportunities, enriched their experiences, and shaped their Stonehill journeys.

Why are you grateful for the opportunities you have had at Stonehill?

I am grateful for the opportunities given to me at Stonehill because they’ve allowed me to gain more experience in different fields. Currently I’m doing an internship with the Athletics Communications Dept strictly for the experience of it all. I’m doing a little bit of everything: going to take pictures at different games for different sports, doing game day graphics, helping to record games that are streaming on tv, helping around the office, etc. I feel this allows me to get a feel for everything and help me learn as I’m more of a hands-on learner. I’m also most especially for the opportunity that was given to me by Coach Delgado, recruiting me to come throw Javelin here at Stonehill. For me, track is one of my strongest passions so being able to come to college and continuing to grow as an athlete while getting a good education is very important. Not many people get opportunities like this, especially the opportunity to compete at the Division 1 level, so I am extremely grateful. Peyton D. '30

How do you hope people remember you after you graduate?

I grew up being taught that you should always leave a place better than you found it and to try your hardest to be someone people remember. So, I think I'd like to be remembered as someone who is always willing to lend a helping hand and is a good person to ask for advice or talk to if you have a problem. I have the distinct opportunity to do so as the class president. Dylan M. '30

What’s one thing on your college bucket list you still want to do before graduation?

One thing on my college bucket list that I still want to do before graduation is study abroad in Italy. I’ve always wanted to experience living in another country, explore new places, and learn more about the culture. I think it would be a really fun experience and something I’ll remember for a long time. Lily E. '29

If you had to describe Stonehill in three words, what would they be?

If I had to describe Stonehill in three words, I would say supportive, rewarding, and home. Stonehill has been one of the most supportive environments that I have been a part of, where I am constantly uplifted and encouraged by my professors and peers. Rewarding because of the rigorous and challenging courses that challenge me to improve. Finally, home because I have met my best friends and have made the best memories of my life here. Zabel D. '29

What’s one class or professor that had the biggest impact on your journey—and why?

One professor who has had a big impact on me is one of my professors in the Education Department, who is also my academic advisor. She has helped me grow not only as a student and future educator, but also on a personal level. She has challenged me academically while also taking the time to notice when something is off and check in with me. Her support and guidance have helped me through both academic and personal challenges, and she has reminded me how important it is for teachers to truly see and understand their students. Her influence has shaped the kind of educator I hope to become. Caitlyn C. '29

What do you love most about Stonehill, and how has it helped you grow?

One of the things I love most about Stonehill is the sense of community and the opportunity to grow as a whole person. It’s a place where I’ve been able to grow both academically and personally, while discovering how my passions for psychology, communication, service, faith, and helping others can come together.
