Biography

Visiting Professor in Mathematics Sofía Martínez Alberga’s research interests include algebraic topology, and homotopical combinatorics. Her dissertation is titled “Coalgebraic Models for Equivariant Homotopy Types.”

Prior to joining the Stonehill College community in 2025, she was a National Science Foundation graduate research fellow and teaching assistant at Purdue University. There, she received the 2024 Outstanding Mentoring Award, recognizing outstanding mentors and instructors at the institution. She also worked as a graduate research assistant for the Simons Laufer Mathematical Sciences Institute research program MSRI-UP in 2020 and in 2023. Additionally, she was a graduate mentor for Enhancing Diversity in Graduate Education (EDGE), a summer bridge program.
