Effective family–school partnerships are essential for supporting the academic and social-emotional growth of all students. This virtual seminar will highlight key principles and practices for moving beyond simple communication toward genuine collaboration with families. Participants will explore the importance of recognizing and respecting cultural differences, learn about the cultural reciprocity framework as a foundation for family engagement and gain an introduction to basic parent-coaching strategies that can extend support beyond the classroom.

Meet the Speaker

Moon Chung, Ph.D.

Associate Professor of Education
Moon Y. Chung, Ph.D., is an associate professor at Stonehill College. Before joining Stonehill, she worked for many years as a special educator, supporting a wide range of students with disabilities and their families. She is also a board-certified behavior analyst at the doctoral level (BCBA-D). Her research focuses on children’s problem behaviors and the development of their communication skills. More specifically, her work examines how educators and families can be better supported in helping students who have limited communication abilities and/or demonstrate challenging behaviors.
