GRANADA, SPAIN

Office hours: Fridays, 2:30-4:30pm

I am a senior Spanish major, and I studied abroad in Granada, Spain in the Fall of ‘16. Living exclusively in a foreign language after so many years of study was incredibly empowering and fun to boot! I did quite a bit of traveling around Europe and even Africa, but I always made time to bond with my host mom and go out for free tapas. I would love to sit down and talk with anyone considering living with a host family, as it was the most significant aspect of my experience. Beyond that, I’m happy to discuss anything from packing tips to culture shock, and I can’t wait to meet you!

DUNEDIN, NEW ZEALAND

Office hours: Fridays, 12:30-2:30pm

I am a senior Marketing major with a minor in philosophy. In Spring ’17 I studied in Dunedin, New Zealand. I took three courses, specifically reading one incredibly eye-opening paper called Metaphysical Questions, but I really got to spend most of my time outside. For the month before and the month after school started, I lived out of a backpack or a 1989 Honda Civic. I spent nearly every weekend backpacking through the gorgeous mountains of New Zealand, and I am quite experienced at sleeping in a hammock. I hope to pass down my experiences and help any Stonehill student have the same life-altering experience I did.

MANCHESTER, ENGLAND

Office hours: Mondays, 1:00-3:00pm

I am a senior majoring in elementary education and mathematics. I studied abroad at the University of Manchester in Manchester, England during the Spring semester of 2017. While I was abroad I traveled to eight other countries and took five classes. Living in Manchester was such an amazing experience. There was so much to do, and for the first time I was experiencing large University life. I lived in a flat on campus with eight other international students from a variety of other countries. I gained a lot of confidence and independence while being in England. I would encourage everyone to take a semester abroad because it truly is a life changing experience full of learning, opportunity, and growth.

Hi everyone! I am a senior, and I’m majoring in political science with a minor in philosophy. I was blessed to be able to study abroad in Athens, Greece in the Fall of 2016. I understand that studying abroad is a daunting concept, and I’d love to answer any questions you have about the process both before and after departure. Studying abroad gave me a whole new confidence in myself, and I’d love to encourage you to have the same experience!

CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA

Office hours: Thursdays, 1:00-3:00pm

Hey guys! I am a senior Political Science major with a concentration in International Studies. During the Spring of ’17 I was fortunate enough to study in Cape Town, South Africa. I took classes in multiculturalism and human rights. During the semester I stayed in four different homestays, which allowed me to travel all around South Africa. I spent time in Cape Town (where my program was based), Stellenbosch, the Eastern Cape, and Bo Kaap. I couldn’t be happier that I had this experience because my semester abroad was definitely more than I could have asked for. I am excited to help you prepare for your own experience abroad!

GALWAY, IRELAND

Office hours: Wednesdays, 12:00-2:00pm

Hello friends! I am a senior Interdisciplinary Studies Health Science major, planning to go into the field of occupational therapy. I had the incredible opportunity to study at the National University of Ireland in Galway in the spring of 2017. I took many interesting courses, including Medieval European Castles and Celtic Mythology. I was fortunate to travel to 14 different countries and 22 cities all throughout Europe, truly making the most of my time abroad. Some of my favorite activities from Ireland include visiting the Cliffs of Moher, biking around the Aran Islands, seeing the limestone landscapes of Connemara, and horseback riding on the beach in County Sligo. I had never been to Europe before studying abroad. It was a time of personal growth and unforgettable experiences, and I am excited to help future students take advantage of this amazing opportunity!
