In July 2005, Stonehill College began collecting batteries, fluorescent tubes, computer/electronic equipment, and waste oil used on campus for proper management and disposal to an off-site recycling facility. It's not just about paper anymore.
When all the pieces of recycling are put together, the overwhelming conclusion is that recycling boosts the economy, conserves natural resources, and reduces solid waste. Improper disposal can have a negative environmental impact with potential health implications.
In 2012 we collected:
- 440 Gallons of Waste Oil
- 3 Monitors
- 62 Televisions
- 2116 Fluorescent Lamps
- 45 Computer/Electronic Equipment
Any individual interested in cooperating in this effort who would like additional information should contact the Facilities Management office at x1361 to coordinate a pick-up/drop-off schedule.
