Chet Raymo Series Featuring Claudia Rankine

November 30, 2015

Before a rapt and appreciative audience in the Martin Institute, poet Claudia Rankine delivered this year’s Chet Raymo Literary Series Lecture. One of America’s most powerful poetic voices, Rankine addressed some of the difficult racial and social-justice questions that society faces today. She is the author of five collections of award-winning poetry and her current book Citizen, a finalist for the National Book Award, also holds the distinction of being the only poetry book to be a New York Times bestseller in the nonfiction category. Assistant Professor of English and Director of Creative Writing Amra Brooks, first photo, welcomed everyone to the Raymo event while Assistant Professor of English and Director of the American Studies Program Andrea Opitz, second photo, introduced Rankine, third photo.
