The Martin Institute at Stonehill College will host Massachusetts House of Representatives House Speaker Robert DeLeo on Tuesday, March 31st at 11:30 a.m. The event, which is free and open to the public, is funded by a generous grant from The Howard Home Fund. Lunch will be provided at the event, therefore a reservation is required.
At the event, DeLeo will discuss economic initiatives undergirded by education and his intent to restore funding to some of these programs.
DeLeo has represented the Town of the Winthrop and a portion of the City of Revere in the Massachusetts House of Representatives since 1991. He assumed the role of Speaker of the House in January of 2009.
In addition to serving as a state representative, he was a Winthrop town meeting member from 1977 - 2005 and was a member of the town's board of selectman from 1978 - 1988.
A graduate of the Boston Latin School, DeLeo holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northeastern University and a Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School.
