Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) and Stonehill College have arranged for five qualified Stonehill students each year to earn early acceptance into the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree Program at the LECOM campus of their choice and at its associated clinical training sites. There are two pathways for qualified students:

  • A 3+4 pathway in which Stonehill students spend three years at Stonehill and then four years at LECOM with credits earned at the successful completion of the first year of medical school transferring back to Stonehill to satisfy final graduation requirements
  •  A 4+4 pathway in which Stonehill students matriculate at LECOM after having graduated from Stonehill

Qualifications

  • Third-year students (juniors) or fourth-year students (graduating seniors)
  • Completion of undergraduate courses required by Stonehill College
  • Completion of Stonehill’s courses required by LECOM:
    • 2 semesters of English (1 writing-intensive course)
    • 2 semesters of Behavioral Sciences (e.g., psychology, sociology, religious studies, etc.)
    • 2 semesters of Biology with Lab
    • 2 semesters of General/ Inorganic Chemistry with Lab
    • 2 semesters of Organic Chemistry with Lab
    • 2 semesters of Physics with Lab
  • Cumulative Science GPA and cumulative overall GPA of 3.00 or higher at the end of each semester at Stonehill
  • Anticipated successful completion of bachelor’s degree from Stonehill College by May of senior year
  • Submission of all application materials by the LECOM deadline

Application Process

  1. Rolling admissions cycle begins mid-May of the year prior to planned matriculation
  2. Notify Stonehill’s Pre-Health Professions Advisor, Andrew Leahy (aleahy@stonehill.edu; 508-565-1325) prior to applying online through AACOMAS by April 1 of year of matriculation
  3. MCAT score(s) from the previous three years must be submitted
    1. Must be taken by January 31 of year of planned matriculation
    2. Typically, an MCAT score of 24 (old MCAT) or 495 (new MCAT) or greater is needed for an interview
    3. If no MCAT or MCAT score is less than < 495, applicant may choose to submit SAT (math & critical reading) or ACT score for consideration
  4. Complete LECOM Supplemental online application by April 1 of year of matriculation
