For the month of May, our Tuesday Tips will focus on how all of us can do our part to support the Stonehill Goes Green sustainability initiative.
When we’re not plugged in, we rely on batteries to power our electronics. These portable power cells are made of heavy metals and toxic elements like cadmium, lithium, nickel and mercury. If these batteries are disposed of improperly, the leaks that are caused can threaten the environment and our health.
Luckily, we have multiple locations on campus where you can dispose of your batteries safely.
- Merkert-Tracy Building, first floor near the vending machines
- Shields Science Center, recycling stations are on each floor in the west corner of the building
For a more eco-friendly alternative, try using rechargeable batteries. You’ll spend a little more at first, but the savings will add up over time.
