October is Cyber Security Month! This week’s topic is Password Security. 

Your Stonehill account password is your key to many College services including our secure network, email, myHill, and eLearn. These best practices will help protect your information resources here at Stonehill.   

  • Try a phrase: Rather than a single word, use a phrase for your password. This is a great way to make it easier for you to remember it without compromising complexity or security. 
  • Use different passwords: For example, avoid making your Stonehill password the same as your personal email, social networking, or banking passwords. 
  • Don’t let your password expire: Everyone is strongly encouraged to enroll in the Password Change Service and to create security questions. Once enrolled, you’ll be notified automatically when your password is about to expire next. After changing your password, be sure to update your email and wireless settings. Account locks can occur when devices have an old password saved in their mail app or hillspot configuration. If your account is locked, the Password Change Service allows you to unlock your account (and change your password at anytime), without having to contact the Service Desk.
