Wellness Coalition Mission

Stonehill College, a JED Campus, is dedicated to creating a student-centered climate that promotes academic challenge and rigorous inquiry, physical well-being and emotional growth, personal responsibility, cooperative learning, and authentic community. In honor of that philosophy, the Stonehill College Wellness Coalition, formed in 2024, strives to foster a culture valuing and supporting the well-being of each community member through assessment, policy development, programming, service provision, and educational outreach related to:  
•    Alcohol/Other Drugs  
•    Equal Access/Engagement of all community members, especially with those from at-risk groups General Wellness/Physical Wellbeing  
•    Healthy Relationships/Sexual Misconduct  
•    Mental Health Promotion/Suicide Prevention  
•    Social Connectedness  
Our Wellness Coalition is comprised of three focused sub-committees, tasked with assessment, strategic goal development, and goal implementation related to the above areas.

Subcommittees and Membership

The Wellness Coalition is comprised of staff, faculty, and students across campus, and is made up of three subcommittees that are tasked with goals geared towards their areas of focus, while operating within the coalition as a whole. 

The Risk Awareness and Resource Promotion Subcommittee strives to empower our community to identify students who are struggling or at risk related to mental health and wellbeing. With a commitment to an inclusive approach, keeping the needs of our students including those from at-risk groups in mind, this Subcommittee will engage in assessment and advocacy around available resources and promote pathways for help-seeking by students.

The Outreach and Education Subcommittee seeks to expand student programs, trainings, and communications related to alcohol and other drugs, equal access, Title IX, relationships, physical health, mental health, suicide prevention, and social connectedness to increase awareness, decrease stigma, and build positive cultural norms.

The Policy, Compliance, and Harm Reduction Subcommittee strives to take a macro-level approach to assessing potential risks to individual and collective wellbeing, research best campus public health practices, and advocate for change when appropriate. Through regular assessment of key community risks, including environmental and institutional factors that impact health, mental health, safety, and wellness, this group may make recommendations for procedural or environmental approaches that promote harm reduction and support the safety and wellbeing of our community members. By fostering a culture of awareness, inclusivity, and resourcefulness, this Subcommittee aims to enhance resilience and promote a healthier, safer environment for all members of the community.
