Fr. Gerald P Cohen

1936 - 2000

Born and raised in Boston, Fr. Cohen entered the Congregation of Holy Cross, Eastern Province in 1954. He received his undergraduate degree from Stonehill College, Easton, Mass., and his S.T.L. from the Gregorian University in 1963 where he was also ordained a priest that same year. Following his ordination in 1963, Fr. Cohen worked in the field of education as a teacher, college administrator, and campus minister. He taught at Notre Dame High School in Fairfield, CT, Kings College in Wilkes-Barre, PA, and at Stonehill College where he also served as assistant registrar and in the Placement Office. While at Stonehill, Fr. Gerald was an assistant professor of religious studies, assistant campus minister and residence hall chaplain, and director of the Office of Career Planning, an office which he pioneered for the College. He was appointed and served as a member of the Board of Directors and Trustees of both Kings College and Stonehill College and was an elected member of the Pastoral Council of the Diocese of Norwich. He later became Director of Campus Ministry at Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT.
