Stonehill College Launches $50M Built to Rise Campaign to Transform Athletics
Fundraising initiative will support new Bogan Arena and turf fields—advancing Division I athletics, academics and community engagement.
Stonehill College today announced the public launch of Built to Rise, a $50 million campaign to elevate the institution’s athletic offerings and infrastructure. To date, the fundraising initiative has secured $25 million in commitments.
“Advancing the priorities of Stonehill 2030: Building Together, our five-year strategic plan, Built to Rise will enhance Division I competition, expand educational pathways, foster leadership opportunities and strengthen community engagement. Together, we will build a brighter Stonehill for student-athletes, our community and Skyhawk fans alike,” said Rev. John Denning, C.S.C., president of the College.
Stonehill Trustees Tom Bogan ’72 and Meaghan Carey Eichmann ’05 will serve as co-chairs of Built to Rise, stewarding the campaign to ensure its outcomes align with the College’s mission of educating hearts and minds.

The Tom & Kathleen Bogan Arena: Empowering Athletic Excellence, Academic Achievement and More
A central pillar of Built to Rise is the development of new state-of-the-art athletic facilities, including the Tom & Kathleen Bogan Arena. Originally announced in May 2025, this project was made possible thanks to a landmark $15 million lead gift from Tom and Kathleen Bogan.
Located on Washington Street across from Stonehill’s main campus, the arena will feature a basketball center and an ice hockey rink, each designed to accommodate 2,250 to 2,500 spectators. It will also include modern training areas, locker rooms, meeting spaces, concessions and advanced media amenities.
Beyond helping redefine Stonehill Athletics, the arena will cultivate experiential education opportunities by offering an active learning lab for students studying sport management, exercise science and digital media production, among other majors. The Stonehill community and the public will also be able to utilize the arena for recreation.
The College has engaged ARC, a Boston-based architectural firm, to design the Bogan Arena. The organization has over 50 years of experience in creating visionary spaces for clients in higher education, athletics and other sectors.

Stonehill also plans to construct a new Athletic Fields Complex as part of Built to Rise. Located adjacent to W.B. Mason Stadium, home of Stonehill’s football program, the installation will include new baseball and softball fields complete with turf playing surfaces, upgraded lighting, dugouts, bullpens and a modern press box.
The Athletic Fields Complex will complement the Chip Salyards ’88 Memorial Pavilion, a social gathering space for Stonehill community members that has been in development since 2024.
A Period of Progress
As one of the most ambitious athletic expansion initiatives in Stonehill history, Built to Rise will shape the College’s future in many meaningful ways.
“We extend our sincere thanks to those who have already joined us in supporting this exciting endeavor. We look forward to seeing these capital projects come to fruition in the years ahead, as well as how they bolster our enduring tradition of athletic and academic excellence,” Vice President for Advancement Doug Smith said.
The campaign continues a trend of significant progress for Stonehill Athletics in recent years, beginning with the College’s transition to the NEC (an NCAA Division I conference), which was initiated in 2022 and completed in 2025.
Further momentum for Stonehill Athletics has also been fueled by the College’s recent acquisition of the Easton Country Club, an 18-hole golf course that will serve as the new home of the women’s golf team and the future men’s golf program.
“The upward trajectory of Stonehill Athletics will continue to accelerate with the launch of Built to Rise,” Director of Athletics Dean O’Keefe ’94 said. “The strategic investments we are making in our campus through this campaign reflect our ongoing mission to inspire growth in all members of our community.”
