Dear Members of the Stonehill Community,

This Veterans Day, we salute our armed services members. We thank them for their courage and their commitment to our country. We also honor their loved ones for the sacrifices they make every day.

Hundreds of Stonehill College alumni have served in the military with distinction. Many of them began their careers in our ROTC program, which introduces students to army operations through a combination of physical fitness and classroom experiences. In a story published today on our website, we profile several current and former cadets, specifically exploring the ways in which their ROTC participation helped them become the leaders they are today.

Major Ryan Goulet ’07 is one of the graduates featured in the piece. Over the last 15 years, his military career has taken him across the globe to Afghanistan, Egypt, Kuwait and Italy. Reflecting on his time in ROTC at Stonehill, he notes that his instructors and peers provided him with “a foundation, a sense of purpose and, most importantly, a network of people.” It is my hope that all our cadets experience ROTC as positively and impactfully as Ryan did.

I invite you to join me in praying for all military personnel, from young officers undergoing training to veterans with years of experience. May they know of our gratefulness for their service to our nation.

Yours in Holy Cross,

Fr. John Signature
