Faculty Earn Distinguished Awards for Contributions to Campus Community
Professor Scott Ferson, Professor Glen Ilacqua, and Professor Rebekah Louis were recognized by senior administrators and colleagues this spring.
During ceremonies held this spring, three professors were honored by Stonehill College for their dedication to positively impacting students’ lives in and out of the classroom.
Award for Excellence in Teaching by Adjunct Faculty
Adjunct Professor in Political Science & International Studies Scott Ferson received the Award for Excellence in Teaching by Adjunct Faculty. This honor celebrates the invaluable dedication and expertise that part-time faculty bring to campus.
In a citation conferring the award, President John Denning, C.S.C., and Vice President for Academic Affairs Peter Ubertaccio noted that Ferson’s teaching is innovative, immersive and grounded in his professional experience.
“Scott enriches his teaching with real-world insights that make course content immediate and meaningful for students,” they said.
Outstanding Faculty Service Leadership Award
Associate Professor of Accounting Glen Ilacqua received the 2025 Outstanding Faculty Service Leadership Award, given to faculty committed to enhancing the academic, professional, and person development of their students.
In a citation conferring the award, President John Denning, C.S.C., and Vice President for Academic Affairs Peter Ubertaccio shared that Ilacqua exemplifies true leadership.
“His colleagues recognize not only his exceptional work ethic but also his collaborative spirit, level-headed decision-making, and unwavering focus on what is best for the College and its students,” they said.
Award for Excellence in Advising & Mentoring
Director of Graduate Teacher Education Rebekah Louis received the Award for Excellence in Advising & Mentoring, which honors faculty for their efforts to foster students’ academic, professional, and personal growth.
In a citation conferring the award, President John Denning, C.S.C., and Vice President for Academic Affairs Peter Ubertaccio said that Louis helps empower students to reach their potential through her positivity.
“Her work leaves a lasting impression on all who are fortunate to learn from and work alongside her,” they said.

The Stonehill staff member was honored during a recent meeting of the Environmental Stewardship Council.

The faculty member received the organization’s Lifetime Service Award during a recent conference in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
