As an instructor in Graduate Teacher Education, Patty has taught a wide range of courses and consistently integrates creative, meaningful approaches that enhance engagement and mastery. Her teaching reflects a deep understanding of how theory and practice intersect, ensuring that every student leaves her classroom prepared to make an impact.
Patty’s innovative use of technology demonstrates her forward-thinking approach to education. In her Special Education Assessment course, she incorporates iPads to provide students with hands-on experience conducting authentic assessments with real learners. These experiences allow future educators to practice essential skills in realistic contexts, bridging the gap between academic preparation and professional application. Her assignments are designed to mirror the daily work of teachers, making coursework practical, relevant, and transformative.
Drawing upon her extensive leadership experience as Executive Director of the Franciscan Children’s Kennedy Day School and the Campus School at Boston College, Patty enriches her instruction with real-world insights that few can match.
