Award for Excellence in Advising & Mentoring for Rebekah Louis
In 2025, Stonehill College bestowed the Award for Excellence in Advising & Mentoring on Rebekah Louis.
This award recognizes a faculty member who goes above and beyond in fostering the academic, professional, and personal growth of each student. Their advising transcends individual meetings, creating a supportive and inclusive environment where students feel empowered to explore their potential. This individual cultivates a spirit of collaboration and positivity, and their dedication, empathy, and inspiring approach embody the Light and Hope at the heart of Stonehill, leaving a lasting impression on the lives of their advisees and the campus community as a whole. In 2025, Stonehill College is proud to bestow the Award for Excellence in Advising & Mentoring on Professor Rebekah Louis.
Rebekah Louis embodies the spirit of the Award for Excellence in Advising & Mentoring through her steadfast dedication to the academic, professional, and personal growth of her graduate students and colleagues. As Program Director for Graduate Teacher Education, she plays a central role in advising the majority of GTE students, overseeing a thoughtful and intentional mentoring process that includes multiple Student Action Meetings (SAM) for each student. These collaborative sessions empower students to take ownership of their development, set meaningful goals, and reflect deeply on their progress.
Rebekah’s leadership has been instrumental in scaling the Student Support, Access, and Success (SSAS) framework—a holistic advising model that incorporates self-assessment, goal-setting, professional development planning, and MTEL preparation. Her advising does not stop at course selection or degree progress; it is infused with empathy, encouragement, and strategic vision that helps students thrive both within and beyond the classroom. She supports each student in cultivating their unique potential, whether by encouraging conference participation, mentoring award nominees, or fostering career advancement.
Her impact extends beyond students. Rebekah mentors new faculty, fosters a collaborative and inclusive work environment, and models professionalism and positivity in all her interactions. Her colleagues describe her as welcoming, generous with her time and expertise, and a team player who always puts students first.
Rebekah’s students speak of her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering support. One student, nominated for a prestigious federal teaching award, was so moved by Rebekah’s mentorship that she invited her to be present during the filming of her classroom. That gesture speaks volumes about the deep trust and admiration her advisees have for her.
Rebekah exemplifies what it means to advise with Light and Hope. Her work leaves a lasting impression on all who are fortunate to learn from and work alongside her.
And so, with deep pride, we confer the 2025 Award for Excellence in Advising & Mentoring to you, Professor Rebekah Louis, for your tireless service, consistent example, and exemplary contributions to Stonehill College.
