The liberal arts are about understanding people, ideas and the forces that shape our world. Through thoughtful discussion, close relationships with faculty and opportunities to apply learning beyond the classroom, Stonehill students gain the perspective and skills to navigate a complex world and contribute to the common good.

    Stonehill's English Department provides students with a firm grounding in English, American and Anglophone literature and literary history, and fosters effective writing and creative critical thinking.

  • Gender & Sexuality Studies

    Stonehill's Gender & Sexuality Studies program uses gender as a lens to promote critical thinking and scholarly development from an interdisciplinary perspective.

    The History major provides its students with the intellectual tools to read critically, to conduct research effectively, and to write and communicate persuasively. These skills provide an ideal foundation for a dynamic range of professions and careers such as law, education, business and public service.

    All of us have a desire to understand life. But for philosophy majors, it’s a passion.

  • Religious Studies

    Taking full advantage of Stonehill’s diverse liberal arts offerings, the Religious Studies major is an interdisciplinary program that embraces virtually all aspects of human experience as expressed in ethics, history, art, literature, social organization, politics and scientific exploration.

  • Spanish

    The Spanish program builds students' written and spoken language skills while also exploring cultural manifestations produced throughout the Spanish-speaking world.

  • Theology

    The Theology major at Stonehill systematically examines religious belief and the nature of God.
