Professor Emeritus Nicholas Delbanco will discuss his work Why Writing Matters, part of Yale University Press’s Why X Matters series. Drawing on his experiences with mentors such as John Updike, John Gardner, and James Baldwin, Delbanco explores questions of influence, imitation, and the importance of originality. Part memoir, part literary history, and part critical analysis, this unique text resonates with professors, students, writers, and book lovers of all ages.
