Nakamichi Recital Series: Musicke’s Cordes
Musicke’s Cordes will perform music composed in and inspired by Spain in the 16th and 17th centuries.
About the Performers
Musicke’s Cordes is an early music duo featuring baroque violinist Samuel Breene and lutenist and theorbo player Jeffrey Noonan. They specialize in 16th-, 17th-, and 18th-century instrumental and chamber repertoire, performed on period-accurate reproduction instruments.
Breene performs on baroque violin, while Noonan plays theorbo, lutes, and early guitars. Together, they regularly appear on regional early music series and collaborate with guest instrumentalists and vocalists. Their programs explore a wide range of repertoire and historical themes, including music of the French court, 17th-century English violin music and Alpine Baroque sonatas.
The event is free and open to the public and is sponsored by the Department of Visual & Performing Arts.
