About the Program

“New Graduate Schools of Education,” or "nGSEs" (Cochran-Smith, et al, 2016), have situated themselves as competitors of university-based teacher preparation. While they are not university-based, they are approved as institutions of higher education.

Professor Elizabeth Stringer Keefe, Dean of Graduate and Professional Studies at Stonehill College, locates the impact and influence of nGSEs within the rapidly changing landscape of U.S. teacher preparation and higher education.
