Early Action Application Deferral Process
Frequently asked questions and information about the application deferral process.
More students apply to Stonehill than can be admitted due to our classroom and residence hall capacities. Because some of these applicants would be successful at the College and we would be happy to admit them if space became available, these students are offered an application deferral. The deferral also allows students to provide their most up-to-date first semester or trimester grades, which may strengthen their application relative to the regular decision pool.
If you remain interested in Stonehill and would like to receive further consideration, complete the Deferral Reply Form on your Application Status Page as soon as possible, and no later than January 15. Please also have your second quarter or first trimester grades submitted to us as soon as they are available. Students who do not complete these steps are unlikely to receive an offer of admission.
If you do not wish to continue as an applicant or have made a final decision to attend another college, please complete the Deferral Reply Form or contact admission@stonehill.edu so that we can withdraw your application.
Yes, you may submit additional information such as:

No. If you remain interested in the possibility of attending Stonehill College, you should not deposit at another college or university.
You will receive an updated decision before the end of March, providing you with ample time to make an enrollment decision well before the national May 1 deadline.
All deferred students will receive an updated admission decision by mid-March, after we have completed review of our regular decision applicant pool.
Yes. Deferred students who are ultimately admitted to Stonehill will have the same opportunity for both need-based and merit-based financial aid as they would have had if they had been admitted through the early action program.
Yes. We anticipate that on campus housing will be available to any student who applied as a residential student.
Each year can be very different, so it is difficult to judge how many spaces may be available prior to our receiving our full application pool. In recent years between 30 and 150 deferred students have been admitted from among approximately 300-400 students annually.
If Stonehill has emerged as your first choice and you are prepared to enroll if offered admission, you are welcome to switch to consideration under this binding application option.
Students wishing to choose Early Decision II should indicate that preference by completing the deferral response form in their portal.
Applicants switching to Early Decision II should send updated transcripts and senior grades that demonstrate an improving academic performance over the course of their full high school career.
Students who choose the Early Decision II plan will be required to submit the Early Decision Agreement, which must also be signed by a parent and school counselor. Choosing to apply as an Early Decision II candidate does not guarantee an offer of admission.
