Stonehill College’s Computer Engineering Program Earns ABET Accreditation
Global organization’s endorsement affirms program’s unique strengths.
Stonehill College’s Computer Engineering program, offered by the May School of Arts & Sciences, has received accreditation from ABET, a non-profit that accredits programs in applied and natural science, computing, engineering and engineering technology.
Vice President for Academic Affairs Peter Ubertaccio noted that this accreditation validates the quality and rigor of Stonehill’s offerings, while also affirming that students will receive an education meeting the highest standards.
“It is also a testament to the extraordinary work of our engineering faculty, who have built a strong and ambitious program for our students,” he said. “I am especially grateful to them and to Kristin Burkholder, associate dean of the May School of Arts & Sciences, for the leadership, attention to detail and considerable effort they brought to the accreditation process.”
Stonehill’s Computer Engineering program is recognized for its holistic approach to engineering education, which embeds human-centered perspectives and the humanities directly alongside core technical studies.
“The program combines a strong STEM foundation with a liberal arts education, helping students develop not only technical expertise but also critical thinking, ethical leadership and adaptable communication skills,” said Professor Hassan Bajwa, the founding director of Stonehill’s Engineering program. “Together, these skills prepare graduates to tackle complex real-world challenges and pursue opportunities in a wide range of leading industry roles.”
