Sister Andrea Lee, I.H.M., Receives Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters Degree at Commencement 2026

As a member of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, you have faithfully advanced your community’s mission through evangelization, catechesis and teaching. In doing so, you have exemplified joyful service and Gospel values. Your devotion to this work aligns with Stonehill College’s efforts to nurture a more just and compassionate world. 

As Senior Consultant for Higher Education Mission Integration with the U.S. Province of Holy Cross, you have shared your expertise to help academic institutions strengthen their Catholic identity. Your leadership and guidance have ensured that the Holy Cross charism remains central to the life and mission of schools across the country. 

As an educator with the U.S. Embassy School in Germany and the Archdiocese of Chicago, you inspired your students by equipping them with the knowledge and tools needed to shape the world beyond the classroom. 

As the former president of St. Catherine University and Alverno College and through your leadership roles at institutions such as Marygrove College, St. Norbert College and the University of Notre Dame, you have advanced academic innovation and expanded opportunities for future leaders. 

You were previously named the 2025 recipient of the Theodore M. Hesburgh Award by the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities. This honor recognized your outstanding leadership and your profound contributions to higher education and society. Throughout your life and career, you have championed peace, embodying the enduring legacy of the late Reverend Theodore Hesburgh, C.S.C., president emeritus of the University of Notre Dame and world-renowned humanitarian. 

In recognition of your unwavering commitment to educational and spiritual ministry, Stonehill College is proud to bestow upon you, Sister Andrea Lee, I.H.M., honoris causa, the degree of Doctor of Humane Letters.
