Celebrating President's Cup Recipient Ula Nguyen '26
Rev. John Denning, C.S.C., president of Stonehill College, gave the following remarks honoring the senior during the 2026 Student Life Awards.
The President’s Cup is awarded to a senior whose time at Stonehill embodies an enduring commitment to academic excellence and servant leadership.
This year’s recipient is a tenacious and talented individual known for their impactful record of community engagement. Their involvement has never been about bolstering their resume or seeking accolades. Instead, this student takes on many responsibilities because they care about advancing Stonehill and its mission of light and hope.
As a tutor and a teaching assistant, this senior has become an invaluable resource for their peers. Their work has helped foster a culture of collaboration and understanding that strongly exemplifies the value of shared learning.
This student has been active in programming offered by the Office of Intercultural Affairs, consistently paying forward the support they have received from its staff. As an Advocates for a Brighter Stonehill Program Leader, an InterAct Dialogue Group Coordinator for International Students, the Vice President of Pan Asian Alliance and the College’s DiverCity Festival Chair, this senior creates spaces for fellow students to forge meaningful connections and celebrate what makes us all unique.
This person has dedicated themself to preserving the unique story of the Class of 2026 and several previous cohorts. As co-editor of the ACRES yearbook, she has worked tirelessly with a small, but dedicated team to creatively capture the spirit of this vibrant community.
As president of Student Government Association’s Executive Board, she has gone above and beyond to build consensus, steward programs and resources strategically, and act as a bridge between students and administrators. Throughout her tenure, she has consistently modeled what it means to lead with heart.
The nominations submitted on behalf of this year’s honoree highlighted this senior’s desire to leave Stonehill a better place than when she joined it, with multiple staff members proclaiming that it has been a joy to behold her personal and professional growth over the past four years.
It is my great honor to present this year’s President’s Cup to Ula Nguyen.
Congratulations, Ula!
