Steve King was appointed Assistant Vice President for Advancement in March 2023. He helps oversee a variety of functions in the Office of Advancement to increase philanthropic support for Stonehill.

Over the past two decades, he has held several leadership roles in higher education. From 2005 to 2012, he worked at Brown University, where he served as Senior Vice President for Advancement and Executive Director of the Brown University Sports Foundation. Most recently, he was the Senior Director of Development for the College of Business at the University of Rhode Island Foundation from 2017 to 2023. 

In addition to his higher education leadership experience, King also has a background in finance. From 2002 to 2005, he was a financial advisor at Morgan Stanley. From 2013 to 2015, he served as Executive Director and Senior Banker at J.P. Morgan Private Bank.

After graduating from Brown University in 1991 with a degree in Organizational Behavior and Management, King was drafted by the New York Rangers and began a nine-year career playing professional hockey that included stints in the National Hockey League with the New York Rangers and the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. He finished his professional career playing for the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League, helping the franchise capture their first and only Calder Cup Championship in 1999. He later served as the assistant coach of the ice hockey team at Brown University from 2000 to 2002. King is part of the Rhode Island Hockey Hall of Fame Class of 2023, an honor granted to him in recognition of his talents and accomplishments on the ice.
