Katie Shannon is a Boston-based filmmaker and founder of Thompson Films. She joined Stonehill College’s Department of Communication as an adjunct instructor in 2014. 

Shannon is the creator and director of K&A, a web series that has been screened at several film festivals across the country. One of the series’ installments, entitled “Gay Camp,” won Best Comedic Short Film at the ITVfest Film Festival. Another episode, entitled “Lost & Found,” was a finalist for Story Central Labs Bravo TV and won Best LGBTQ Short at the LA Independent Women Film Awards, Best Comedic Short at the Women’s Comedy Film Festival in Atlanta, and Best Comedy Short at the New York International Women Festival. 

Shannon’s company has released several other short films, including Amy D, Jack & Em, and MJFA-30. They also produced 113 Days, a feature-length documentary that followed the Stonehill Women’s Lacrosse team during the 2012 season. The production received the Oak Foundation Grant.

Shannon serves as the director of programming for Boston’s Wicked Queer Film Festival and sits on the board for The Queer Film Institute.
