2026 Scholar Series: Professor Rachel Hirst
The Stonehill faculty member has spent over two decades working to increase access to high-impact practices, including undergraduate research, as a way to enhance student research skills and science identity.
About the Program
Professor Rachel Hirst will explore her collaborations with stakeholders across campus to create an infrastructure to implement Course-Based Undergraduate Research Experiences (CUREs). It is intended that these CUREs will provide students with hands-on learning opportunities that empower them to ask novel research-based questions under the direction of an instructor.
Hirst will also discuss her involvement with an interdisciplinary research project examining the association of gut microbiome diversity and guppy antipredator behavior.
This event is sponsored by the MacPháidín Library. Light refreshments will be provided, courtesy of the Office of Academic Affairs.
